dear reader: because i like you and you forgive me for not updating this blog as often as you like, i will share with you some secrets of my success - this one is on motivating yourself to work when you just don’t feel like working. yes dear reader i know the feeling quite well as i confess i have been a victim to it more than once: the deadline for your project is looming and there you are stalking your crushes on multiply.com. but despair no more as i, i, i, bripman, will now reveal to you my secrets on how to motivate yourself to work:
1. deserve your job. are you living up to expectations? do you think the amount of work you contribute to the company is equal to the amount of pay you receive? if you answer yes, then exceed those expectations. challenge yourself to be better than others who are given the same set of responsibilities. perfect your skills but more importantly, acquire new skills. not only will this bring variety to your daily routine, the company might even notice your new found powers and finally give you a promotion.
2. you are part of something bigger and what you do contributes to that bigger something. perhaps the work that you are doing now requires very little brain activity that you think it couldn’t be that important to the success of the company. you are merely going through the paces and you are demoralized. but you are mistaken. a successful company is a collection of little successes. submitting reports on time, making sure reports are free of errors before submitting, helping others do the same: these come a long way towards achieving company goals.
3. succeed in another task. when i can’t bring myself to finish a task, i do another one and try to be successful in it. the high that you get from finishing that task will enable you to go back to your previous one with a winning mindset. sometimes, things are hard to do because we think they’re hard to do. by showing to yourself that you can be successful in one thing allows you to motivate yourself to be successful in another thing. just like what i’m doing now. i’m writing this piece so that i can finally start on some projects that are collecting digital dust.
4. envision the desired results. this is my most potent technique in motivating myself. i think of what this project will achieve for the company, for my team, for myself, and that is usually enough for me to plough ahead. a lot of the things i have done i did out of my own volition. there is a certain kind of satisfaction in seeing your initiatives bear fruit. do not lose focus of the objectives: always keep them in front of you like carrots on a stick which will be yours to eat eventually.
5. when all else fails, stop. there is nothing more stressful than motivating yourself when you’re not in the mood. if you tried to and failed, simply do something else not related to work. play a game. chat with friends. take a nap. eat a snack. adopt a panda. simply take your mind off work. a job should remain just that, a job. you should not let it take hold of you. there are far more important things in life than hitting quotas and targets. i used to be passionate about work but not anymore. live your life and quit slaving for corporations which, in the end, when all things are weighed and measured, care only about profit margins. corporations have human resources offices precisely to dispel this truth. do not be fooled.
if you’re still not motivated after reading this then i will come over to you and pinch your butt. now, are you motivated or not?

strong winds and rain started to lash bripman’s beautiful hometown of kalibo at 5am, june 21. at 11am the storm was located just off our town’s coast. residents endured the battering storm for 11 hours, the longest in our town’s recorded history, more terrible than the legendary undang typhoon in 1984 which only lasted for 3 hours.

It devastated Aklan with 33 persons dead; flattened & destroyed 50% nipa houses, 10% concrete houses; uprooted 40% of trees. The 2nd floor of Gaisano Mall was flooded. A knee high depth mud still covers 1/2 of Kalibo.
It destroyed most of the houses along Lagatik river and seashores from Dumaguit to Tangalan. In Tambac, most of the establishment were washed out especially SIKINI, RR, Horizon & others.
Thoroughfares, TV, and radio communications & stations DYKR, DYRG, BOMBO, are still not functioning. Only mobile phones functioned yesterday (June 23rd). The electricity is estimated to operate 3 to 4 weeks from now while water utility about 2 weeks from now.
Area most damaged are the towns of New Washington, Batan, Altavas, Balete, Kalibo, Numancia, Lezo, Tangalan, Banga, Madalag, & Libacao.

the best thing about having a credit card is being able to shop online. i was browsing for sneakers when i stumbled on this website brand neusense selling hip designer men and womens clothes . it carries trendy labels like bench (nope not the local bench), satsuma, house of the gods, and my personal favorite - pornstar! you wont find boring shirts at brand neusense; their tagline says it all: survival of the hippest. 
it’s rainy season now in these parts and it can get cold inside the office so i checked out their hoodies. how about this fang face hoodie by me&yu? it’s cute yes? wish they have this in black: the monster face would have really stood out. i’m also won over by this funny shirt by dephect with a printed robot saying expletives in chinese hahaha! if you have a girlfriend, you can head over to the women section. they have a variety of brands for your girl like womens david & goliath.
i haven’t bought anything so far but i’ll definitely go back to this website. plus i haven’t seen their stock of pornstar shirts yet!
i was on my way out of gateway mall rustans last night coming home, when i turned around and headed straight to the ice cream section. i bought a half gallon of selecta double dutch for no apparent reason. what’s so bad about this? i’m home alone for the next three months that’s why! i’ll have to figure out how to finish off the whole thing because lil bro decided he’s better living near his review center: he packed up and left me all by myself, don’t wanna be, all by myself anymooooooore!!!
i could easily satisfy my ice cream craving with a drumstick and i like drumsticks very much, so why? half a gallon for whom exactly? i don’t have imaginary friends. was i subconsciously planning a one week loser and lonesome ice cream festival? why would i do that? why am i asking these questions anyway?
aghast at this uncharacteristic avarice, i did not cook and had ice cream for breakfast today as penitence. it was so sad. nothing could be more depressing than eating ice cream for breakfast. guess what’s for dinner honey? hell no! i’m not gonna have ice cream for dinner again! tomorrow, i’ll just make me some nice, fluffy pancakes topped with - yes - ice cream. hey what else can i do with this stuff? the goddam can is still two-thirds full.
there’s a moral to this story somewhere, i just can’t figure it out. think before you buy? i guess yeah i wasn’t really thinking when i bought the ice cream. it was more like an impulse really. so don’t be implusive? and how else would i know what happens to someone who eats ice cream for one whole week aber? give in to impulses i say! magpakatotoo kah!
world pyrolympics by rc
my social calendar was blank (as usual) for may 31 so i wasn’t really expecting much to happen that day. but lo! rc invited me to go see the last day of the world pyrolympics at the mall of asia. things began to look up for bripman horayt! we arrived early and were able to stake out front row seats to the show - front seats being the seawall. it was 5pm and the show will start at 7pm so we agonized over whether to give up our strategic location and eat dinner or stay and go hungry. abby came up with a compromise which was buy popcorn from the roving holy kettle corn lady. we had popcorn and small talk to kill time. the barge at the bay with the fireworks was doing crazy turns, probably positioning for the show. then, without warning, off went the fireworks! which were not really impressive considering it was supposed to be a world competition. the organizers should have renamed the show the world fireworks paralympics. but no matter, this did not stop bripman from shouting and clapping madly along with the children fireworks after boring fireworks lol.
after the show. we went to mcdo quirino to eat dinner. i was so sleepy since it was past my bedtime. a high school friend texted while i was mindlessly shovelling chicken nuggets down my trap. he was with another high school friend and they want me to join them go to zambales that very night. suddenly i was no longer sleepy: guerilla vacation! rc and abby said bubuye while i waited for hs friends to pick me up. we missed the 11pm trip to zamba so we took the first trip early the next morning.

so where to in zambales? it was a choice between anawangin island or potipot island. we really liked the name of potipot so potipot it was! potipot island is in candelaria, one hour away from iba, zambales. the island is small and only five minutes away from the mainland. there are no facilities on the island, only skeletons of structures ravaged by the constant typhoons that visited this area. the sand is quite fine but not pure coral like the one in bora so it gets hot under the sun. the water is clear though and perfect for snorkelling although you wont get to see much undewater life.
well i was raring to swim: it would have been my last this summer but guess what? what? did i just reply to my own question? i think i did. anyway, i didn’t have any swimwear with me so i was planning on swimming in my bikini briefs but aaaargh! there were quite a number of people on the island and i didn’t want to scare them away with the exotic sight of me in my undies. bottomline: no swimming for bripman! i was so pissed off that i hired a boat going back to dawal resort in candelaria without saying goodbye to my high school friends.
